Meet Alyssa and Dan!
How long have you been married? What is your anniversary date? Where were you married?
We’ve been married for 3.5 years. We got married on July 27, 2013 in Minneapolis, MN.
How did you meet your spouse?
College sweethearts. We met freshman year through Alyssa’s roommate (Dan knew the roommate from high school) and have been together for 12 years this Valentines Day. We went to colleges in different states and did the long distance thing until we graduated.
What is your favorite date night?
Pizza and movie night in, tops the list. But, we also love trying out restaurants new to us and enjoying city events especially in the summer months.
What is your best marriage advice?
Always love and be there for each other, no matter the situation or circumstance. Sometimes you won’t like what your partner is saying or how they’re acting or you’ll be going through a really difficult bump in life – don’t push your partner away, communicate and reconnect.
What is the hardest thing that you’ve gone through as a couple?
Our journey through infertility. We are tremendously grateful to be expecting our first child, due this summer, because of the amazing science and technology of IVF.
What is the hardest thing about marriage for you guys?
Compromising on things – we all want to have our cake and eat it too but when you’re going through life with a partner in marriage, compromising, though not always enjoyable, is necessary.
What is the most amazing thing about marriage for you guys?
Always having a partner by your side – someone to love, support, have fun with, or just be lazy with.
Why an anniversary session? What inspired you to do it?
We like celebrating our marriage in this unique way each year – some people have anniversary dinners or getaways, but we like the tradition of an anniversary photo shoot.
What are you looking forward to in your marriage in the next 10 years?
Seeing how much more we’ll grow and learn and achieve together.
