Today we have a gorgeous, Chicago Art Gallery Wedding to share with you shot by Lex Nelson Photography!! Angie and Matt said their “I do’s” at the lovely Floating World Gallery in Chicago! The day was full of florals, handmade details, and geometric decor!!
Meet Angie and Matt!
How did you meet your spouse?
We both worked in a mall at different stores.
Tell us your proposal story!
Matt had to work on my birthday so we both took off another day to celebrate. While we were out and about all day I secretly inside thought if he was going to propose it would of been that afternoon. It was about 9:30 pm and I let go of the idea. I changed into my pj’s and was basically ready for bed. So, Matt is a talented musician. He was working on a song for the past month or so. He asked if I could listen to the “new” part he added. So he threw the heads phones on me but little did I know the “new” part was him proposing and I looked over and he was one knee :).
What is your favorite date night?
Our favorite date night is catching a comedy show. Big or small we love to see good stand up.
What was the inspiration behind your wedding?
Our wedding rings. Our rings are 14k recycled gold. My engagement ring has the most beautiful trillion rough diamond and my wedding band has a green sapphire. I feel like it spoke a lot about what we wanted in our wedding. We have a perfect balance of floral and geometric.
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
We didn’t do our first look so after the ceremony we took photos. After taking our couple photos with Lex we felt absolutely stunning. Like we were models or something! There was a moment between taking those photos to about to be introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Matt and I were in the hidden stairway of the venue and starving. I (Angie) knocked on the door which led to where the kitchen staff was and I asked for a bowl of guacamole and chips for the groom. Everyone tells you there is a moment where you take a step back and realized you just got married and that was our moment.
What is one piece of wedding planning advice you have for our readers?
It’s worth it. It is the best day ever and don’t let anything or anyone bring you down. We found the most stressful part of planning for us besides $$$ was planning for others. Seating charts? Do the girls have their dresses? Do the guys have their suits? Just remember you are celebrating you love and you can do it however you want to.
What is one piece of couple/marriage advice you have for our readers?
We were married by pastor but were blessed by my Buddhist monks when we were engaged. They both told us you have to forgive one another. So my one piece of advice would be to forgive, no one is perfect. Marriage is about understanding all the sides to be someone to be their partner in life.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Big Sur, CA and San Fran, CA.
What do you love most about your wife?
How she can put others’ happiness before hers.
What do you love most about your husband?
I never met a man more genuinely kind than my husband. At the same time so well rounded with his sense of humor and intelligent mind.
How has marriage made you grow as a person and/or couple?
We felt were were already life partners before marriage but being married now we feel it even more. Its so damn comforting.
What are you looking forward to in your marriage in the next 10 years?
Making more memories together!
Any additional information that you’d want to share!
We are both extremely happy the planning is over but we loved that our special day turned out the way it did. We know it’s because we took our time to pick the right vendors for us. Lex is seriously the best wedding photographer anyone could ever ask for. So much talent in that girl!
