We have a glamorous Utah wedding to share with you today!!! Brandy + Ricardo said their “I do’s” at the very lovely La Cailla restaurant at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon in Sandy, Utah! Pepper Nix Photography did an amazing job capturing all the beauty the day brought.
How did you meet?
Through mutual friends at a well known local hot spot (restaurant) called The Table in Sarasota on a Sunday of all nights. Who knew?
Tell us your proposal story?
Ric proposed at The Table Creekside (their new location). The entire staff and chef (a friend of ours) were all in on the surprise. He ordered champagne and went to the rest room. He was gone for awhile and I thought what is going on? He doesn’t ever drink champagne. I love champagne, but I drink it with my mom or my sister. I thought he planned a surprise birthday party and invited them for the champagne dessert part of the evening. I was so confused. It was so sweet and romantic. Of course I was shocked and surprised and it just felt so right. I was on top of the moon!
What was the inspiration behind your wedding?
I love classic glamorous 20’s. I have always loved the Great Gatsby book. I have always been drawn to that time period.
Why did you pick that location for your ceremony?
We have visited La Caille many times while in town visiting my sister in law and her family. We live near the beach in Florida and considered a beach wedding, but Ric said why should we do that when we can have the wedding at La Caille. It was the best decision we made. It was magical and felt like a fairytale wedding. My grandmother was able to come as she lives in Wyoming and it would be have been difficult for to make a long flight.
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?!
My grandmother marrying us. It was so special! Also, the speeches (especially my brother in law John’s) and seeing the two families come together and laugh and really get to know each other so much better it was so special. It made it official. We also had a great time with the photo booth (ShutterBooth). Great memories were made with both families!!!!
I cried during the ceremony of course. My grandmother marrying us didn’t help. I just started boo hooing. I cried dancing with my dad. My mother and other family made me cry because I could hear them crying during the ceremony. The best was my youngest step daughter crying at the reception telling me how much it meant to her finally marrying her father. She wanted this for so long. It was touching. I had no idea how much it meant to her.
What is one piece of wedding planning advice you have for our readers?
Take the time to plan more. It is the best time of your life. Make is special.
Hire the best makeup artist and hairstylist is worth it for the bridal party and hire a well known photographer! The pictures of your family are forever!
Our wedding day was even more special than I imagined. I thought it would be dramatic with the bridal party getting ready and I just thought there might be a few things that go wrong as it is hard to have a perfect wedding. It was the most perfect day ever. Everyone had love in their hearts!!!!!!!!! I cannot explain the wonderful feeling to anyone. I would not have waited so long to get married. It was so worth the planning and stress. It was all worth it.
