Today we have a super sweet Maryland Vineyard Wedding to share with you shot by Tara + Renata!! Lauren and Chris planned a gorgeous wedding at Running Hare Vineyard in Frederick, Maryland. It was a beautiful celebration of their sweet love for each other.
Meet Lauren + Chris!
How did you meet your spouse?
We both started out after college as public accountants at the same firm. We worked on the same clients during busy season, and not long after, we went on our first date.
Tell us your proposal story!
Lauren: We were on a beach vacation with my family. We set aside a night for ourselves to go to dinner, and Chris drove to the beach afterwards so we could walk along the water. There were fireworks off in the distance as Chris stopped me and got down on one knee. Of course I said yes! It was the perfect setting, and I’ll always remember the unbridled feeling of happiness we both felt.
Chris: This process was one of the most nerve-racking processes of my life. I had a four step plan. Get a new credit card to finance the ring. Buy the ring. Ask Lauren’s dad. Ask Lauren to marry me. Steps one and two weren’t bad. Steps three and four were terrifying. Luckily, Lauren’s dad had nothing but nice things to say and gave me his blessing. Since Lauren outlined our evening above, I won’t go into too much detail. The date ran a little later than expected, so the walk on the beach was dark except for the lone lamp on the beach that I had to utilize to pop the question. I’m pretty sure I blacked out for most of it, but I do remember her saying yes, which was all I needed to hear. What was the inspiration behind your wedding?
Because our wedding was at a vineyard in my (Lauren’s) hometown, the inspiration behind our wedding quickly became about bringing our friends and family together for a good time, while focusing on meaningful aspects. We had homemade touches, such as my dad hand-making our centerpieces to resemble wine barrel heads and also crafting our own bay window-like chalkboard for our seating chart. I wore my sister-in-law’s garter as my something borrowed, and I also had fabric from my mom’s wedding dress and dad’s wedding shirt wrapped around my bouquet. Both our families went to great lengths to help us have the wedding of our dreams.
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
We went the traditional route, so seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle was the best. But also, some of our best memories are from later in the night on the dance floor with our guests. What is one piece of couple/marriage advice you have for our readers?
While we certainly don’t consider ourselves experts, we’ve found that making time for each other is key. While falling into a routine can be therapeutic and comfortable (hey, Netflix!), it’s refreshing to switch things up. We like to randomly take a long weekend trip or try out a new local winery or brewery.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Jamaica. It was beautiful, mon 😉What do you love most about your wife?
How caring and considerate she is to not just her friends and family, but to all people. Except when she’s behind the wheel.
What is one piece of wedding planning advice you have for our readers?
Be organized and persistent with what matters, but by all means, try not to stress over trivial things! You’ll look back and realize that no one cared if, for example, you didn’t have wedding invitations that were addressed in calligraphy. What do you love most about your husband?
His sense of humor (see answer above!). In all seriousness, I love that he’s so genuinely true to himself and his character. I wake up every day excited to be around him.
